  • It's all true. DMC is the worst mistake I have made in my life! PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF WHILE YOU STILL CAN, STAY AWAY. You won;t be able to transfer credits to any university except Kaplan (expensive also). They won't let you transfer credits intil you finish paying them any loan you get with them. They don't tell you this in the beginning. So like me I got a loan for what financial aid didn't cover (7K out of 35K for the transitional program) over a 3 year period. I want to continue studying but cant because the loan is still not paid off. They wont transfer my credits until I finish paying them over the 3 years. DMC SUCKS. I could go on forever but just know everything that people are saying negatively is TRUE. Just go to Miami Dade College instead. You will learn and be able to transfer credits anywhere. Good Luck!
P.S.If there were a no star rating I would have given it.

  • hi, everyone I was reading all the reviews and have help me a lot to avoid the same mistake twice. I am attending FLORIDA NATIONAL COLLEGE and basically all the comments relate to FNC. a lot of the professors have no certification to be teaching, the failing rate is way up there 3 of 10 passed the RN. boards on the last graduating class....The school is under investigation for overcharging and altering financial aid applications. classes are thought by power points that you can do at home.they have integrated math calculations exams every semester in which no one knows what will be on the test because they are not preparing or teaching us whats going to be on the test....it has to be self learning at home. even if you are an A students they can fail you for not passing a math test. they make you buy a $500 kaplan book for you to practice at home and ironically the nursing director took the kaplan computer based calculations test herself and failed it. we are all afraid to complaint because their response is when they feel trapped 'you came at your own will, 'we did not forced you to come to this school or 'perhaps you should consider transferring to another school because this is too hard for you! in other words avoid this school if you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dade medical is so unprofessional I had a private discussion with the CEO of the nursing program. All the teachers knew about it the next day, and she even mentioned my name wow. I never experience anything like that. Everybody knows each other business all they care about is gossiping and money, and a bunch of lies. Now the students are taking kaplan and everybody in all campus failed. Now you tell me if you feel comfortable attending this school. Keep your money and go somewhere else, trust me this school is worthless... I'm glad I made a decision to leave the school, they not gonna get no more money from me. I could buy a house with 60.000 dollars .

It is true that it will be easier tofind a job more north but I don't have the option of moving. We shall see how the rest of my time here goes but I am happy add of now.

I SPOKE TO SOMEBODY WHO USE TO WORK AT THE SCHOOL, THING THAT PERSON TOLD ME WAS UNBELIEVABLE. I'M HAVING A BAB EXPERIENCE AT THE SCHOOL. ALL I'M ASKING IS FOR STUDENTS TO BE HONEST SO WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE SCHOOL IS STILL ON PROBATION, THEY OPEN SINCE 2009 IF THEY WERE DOING A GOOD JOB, THEY SHOULD BE OUT OF PROBATION. MY FRIEND JUST FAILED THE BOARD TWICE. KEEP UR MONEY JUST READ THE REVIEWS MORE NEGATIVE THAN POSITIVE, SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. I AGREE I FEEL LIKE THE SCHOOL OPERATED LIKE IN CUBA AND I'M NOT SURPRISE

  • Hi, I'm a student in the 2010 October cohort for Nursing. I'm graduating on September 5, 2012 and overall I'm more satisfied than i was MDCC. I am a married mother of two and i have been able to manage. The school is a new school, especially the Homestead Campus and yes, in the beginning it was unorganized and we always seemed to have new leaders but it has improved 20 fold!. The professors are amazing. Most of them Have their MSN. They are well qualified. I think a lot of people came to this school expecting a perfect school but it was new and the school, like others, had to take time to learn from mistakes to improve the quality they give. the clinical sites are great and the places we have worked with say they would definitely hire from our school. The classes are intense but it is an accelerated program. I know I am very satisfied and confident that I have the competency to pass the NCLEX. I feel like the staff try their best to help you and work with you to see you pass and they are receptive to our suggestions and emails.

This school is not perfect and you have to be flexible, but overall I love homestead Campus, the nursing staff, the teachers, and the experience. I am signing up for the bachelor's program as soon as I can.

  • I don't personally attend DMC, however, my wife does. It's very interesting to read all the complaints and bad reviews as most of them are EXACTLY the same problems that she complains about. It seems like the closer she gets to graduation, the more problems they give her. It's literally one thing after another. Sometimes I seriously wonder if they are just trying to find an excuse to get more $ from her. The management at this school are totally egotistical and incompetent. The smallest problems are always exaggerated and usually turn into "pissing matches". Does Castro secretly run this school? It sure seems like it!

Also....If you actually finish at this school, you better have one hell of a personality, as this school has NO respect in the medical world.

If I detailed all of the problems that she has with them, it would mirror what everyone else here has said. If you are loco enough to pick this school, expect everything last minute, including schedule changes, and total incompetence. You can also expect NO flexibility in regards to anything. For example, they may send you an email on Wednesday night, for a change Thursday morning. When you don't get it you can expect for them to make a HUGE deal about it....scare the hell out of you..and leave you hanging all weekend until they finally decide to talk to you on Monday...while acting like they are doing you some huge favor.

To sum it up...save your $ and go elsewhere. Come back here later and thank all of us who posted for saving you all the drama. As a student you should have the opportunity to focus on your education (that you are paying a lot of $ for) and not have to worry non-stop about unnecessary drama, constant incompetence from "professionals", as well as constant harassment.

  • THIS SCHOOL IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I'm currently at the miami campus, i had to sign a contract twice and the second time the Montly payment increases for no reason. They all about money and no other school wants to take their credits that's the reason why I'm still there. There is something very strange going on with that school. The students are not passing the board and the school is still on probation. I regret attending this school and if we all feel like that we need to make a difference by reporting them to the board of nursing or US department of education. Please keep your money DO NOT ATTEND DADE MEDICAL COLLEGE ALL THREE CAMPUS DON"T TEACH YOU NOTHING.

  • I would recommend for you to keep your money . Dade Medical College is a joke just like the externship, they just take students in to get the money tell them there is a demand for the course they take then when you get to the externship it's B.S and you come to find out from people that are in the field that theres no jobs in south florida and you should move to North Dakota if you want to work in that field and it's true about the teachers reading off the power point and then trying to make sense of what they are explaining.Plus they are not fully accredited the teachers aren't even licensed or fully certified to be teaching. I would not recommend this school.

  • Oh, where do I begin!!! I was in the first class of RN students when the school in Hollywood opened. I have never in my life experienced a school that is so unprofessional. I have a BFA and have attended alot of colleges. We would sit in the class and the teacher would use the time to read only from power point, and then talk about the T.V. show House Wifes of Atlanta. I would sit there and think to myself,,,,what the hell I'm I doing here??? And what am I paying for. For god sake I could take the power point home and teach myself!!! and to add to it, I was asked if i wanted the answers to the A.T.I. exit exams. The students have the answers...and they get them from other campuses. and teachers would tell us that students would come into the entrance exam to the school with the answers, they would score A's on that and not know even how to turn on a computer!!!! I mean HELLO?? That was the last straw for me!! I mean I want to know what the hell I am doing in a hospital, dealing with peoples lives. I would not cheat to KILL somebody!! And the last thing I have to say to the faculty is we are in America...Learn to speak English correctly. I know if I was to go to another country to teach I would learn how to speak there language!!!! Half the time I was trying to decode what the hell they were saying then try to understand the concept they were trying to get across....funny, but really sad. If I was the CEO of this school I would be so embarassed!!! All I got to say is Carma...take (steal) peoples money and it will come back 10 fold to you. You can take your school and shove it, comprenda? Or how ever you spell it, I really don't care since I live in America and speak English.

How can you pay your monthly payment when you sign a contract twice and the prices increase for no reason. Another day they had no electricity they claimed it was a power outage. they were the only ones without electricity. If you attend that school you will regret it for the rest of your life.

  • This school is a joke its a poor excuse of a school. This is the only school where you miss one day and have an excuse and you get put on probation and also switched to another class.. The "professors" don't know where they are standing in bases of teaching they read directly from a power point with the exception of few... The nursing department is beyond disorganized they lose every single paper you give to them... You find out your clinical sites they day before you are expected to show up and also they have no consideration for students and there jobs... The clinicals rotation manager and her assistant spend all day doing nothing instead of bettering our clinical experience.... They send us to do clinicals in bad neighborhoods where you have to park 5blocks away from the site and leave from there late at night... They have no consideration for students. You can't bring up a concern because they don't care about your opinion at all... This school is all about there employees!!! If I would of known all of this before I signed up I would of never came to this school at all

About the teachers they need to do a little more research on who they are hiring to teach because everything is power points.

  • Where do I begin. I guess I will begin by saying to not come to this school, even if it was the last school on earth. Ive never in my life been a part of such a scam and waste of my time. In all our classes from start to finish we have had 3 good teacher that actually knew the material and TAUGHT. Every other teacher was an utter joke that read straight off a powerpoint slide and never interjected with the slightest bit of information or past experiences.

These "supposed" teachers with masters could never answer the most basic of questions that any competent nurse should know. Anytime we brought up issues to the Director of Nursing, Campus Director, and Director of Education we were completely shunned and in some cases written up for our review of the faculty. We were even told by the Campus Director(the last in the chain of command besides the owner)that we had no "right" to critique or bring up any negative reviews. What a slap in the face, so a person paying $60,000 for an ASSOCIATES has no right to get and demand the education they paid for?

Most teachers here know they have no ability to teach although hey, they have a masters. So what do these "teachers" do? They let you retroactively change answers on tests, give you answers during the test, and the most recent trick to boosting scores is reviewing the test question by question the day before the exam. This school has no respect for education or the students within. Any issues brought up about the teachers puts you on the blacklist and you get singled out for anything at any time. Its a them vs us mentality, and you aren't going to bring up any issues against a teacher without all the other teachers jumping down your throat. They all know each other from previous employment, or share the sisterhood of "Masters" so they all have the hubris and bond between each other and defend themselves even when they know they are wrong.

To add insult to injury the teachers boast about their Masters and "experience" yet can barely handle their own in clinical rotations. This is assuming they even show up to the clinical rotations. Most times they don't show up and leave you hanging, they tell you they aren't coming, or they show up and leave early to go work elsewhere.

The don assistant is a big drama queen she should focus more about giving the students a set schedule for clinical not at the last minute it interferes with work schedule. The board should seriously do something they do not deserved that license. Whatever you do not attend dade medical college you will regret it just like I did.

  • If I could rate this school -100 I would. Where do I even start. All their locations are so ridiculously crappy. I'VE NEVER IN MY LIFE SEEN A MEDICAL COLLEGE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHOPPING PLAZA!!!!!! They should have focused on establishing a centrally located, big campus with the required accreditation instead of expanding with a bunch of worthless little campuses. Not a developed school yet. Just now in process of receiving the CAAHEP accreditation, which is what you need if you ever want to get hired anywhere. Unorganized, loose, way too overpriced. Miami and Hialeah campuses are 100% in Spanish. But when you ask them they say its a bilingual school. Basically if you don't speak Spanish, you're screwed. Professors barely speak English, even though all the learning material is in English. Maybe in 10 years this will be a good school, IF they make the necessary improvements. I can go on and on...BUT BASICALLY I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO HERE!
