Waldman Gives Oscar-winning Performance at Weird Kindness Awards
In the best Las Vegas tradition, Judy Waldman outdid herself at the glittering 2012 City of Homestead Kindness Awards hosted at the Homestead-Miami Speedway’s Champions Club.
Hobbling into the event on a crutch 1 1/2 hours late and flanked by entourage and local item Ana Paneque and Alex Andrickson, Waldman proceeded to regale the crowd with her typically loud, blond, and gaudy tale of falling down a flight of stairs in high heels at 1:30 a.m., hence the crutch.
Folks, this was vintage Tammy Faye. Everyone was grabbing for a barf bag or heading for the door. The event droned on and on and felt like it would never end. This was a lunch-time crowd and even the most hardened Waldman-lover had to get back to work.
Things only got worse when the awards were given. One fellow was given an award for taking out his neighbor’s garbage.
From that point it all went south. It was obvious to all that Waldman was liberally dispensing her kindness awards to her campaign supporters in her failed attempt to be re-elected as vice mayor in 2011.
Many also questioned why the master of ceremonies for the event was track President Matthew Becherer.
Also curious was the detail that neither the mayor nor the City Council spoke.
Folks, this was pure flim-flam in the best tradition of snake oil salesmen. Waldman has finally become a cartoon — looney tunes for sure. Most of the crowd were shaking their heads, making faces, and muttering WTF!
Now, the final question. What did this weird charade cost? It was heavily advertised on radio. City Manager Gretsas and his merry band of carpetbaggers must have been working overtime to fund this “finger down the throat” event. I’ll bet it cost a pretty penny. This is all part of Gretsas’ “keep those four votes at any cost” policy.
Many are saying that Waldman is gearing-up for the next Mayor’s race in 2013.
I say a few more of these and she should be “Baker-acted” to protect the public.
