Relocation of City Hall
One of our most formidable challenges has been addressing the growth and concentration of the City’s population density to the east and the associated concept of the location of the seat of our government. I feel strongly that it is in the best interests of the City to locate its seat of government to the west to be part of downtown revitalization efforts and to return to the City’s roots.
The personnel requirements of the City have increased as a result of our growth. Our current City Hall can no longer accommodate the staff required for the smooth operation of our government. In addition, numerous City agencies are not housed in City Hall; generating inefficiencies of increased travel time and problems of coordination.
Our preliminary planning has identified several potential sites for the relocation of city hall; each with substantial attributes for that use.
Under the leadership of Councilman Losner, I am requesting that final site selection for the New City Hall is completed in the next 90 days and that the process move forward to establish our new center of government.
