"We're in the middle of a budget process right now and there is not $500,000 there, said Bateman. "This is without a doubt, a county issue."
Every year 20,000 animals are killed at the county shelter. The county must accept every dog or cat that comes in the door, which means many are killed to make room for others.
Maybe if the City of Homestead Council was not so reckless in revenge on former employees, settling lawsuits for much less than the damages, wasting funds through highest bidder selection and the reducing of fees to campaign donors the funds would have been there and then some.
Somebody needs to tell the Mayor that photos at events like the Feast for Beasts are fundraisers for animals, not window dressing. The millions this City Council has wasted is history.
If abandoned animals left in the City of Homestead is not a City issue and the Mayor thinks that his statement allows the City to escape responsibility while it's citizens feed and shelter innocent animals, why does he keep pretending to care about Homestead?
Find a way Mayor, you have proven to be resourceful for your human friends, show us the Feast for the Beasts photo was heartfelt.
