Once again another boondoggle looms on the landscape of Homestead, the Everglades Preparatory Academy is going up fast, the first thing that comes to mind when looking at this project is the name. They got it right, if preparing their students for the Everglades as the name suggests is the goal, they have successfully exceeded even the City of Homestead Council's expectations.
This is what you get when the Homestead City Council caves to parent pressure without considerations for doing things the right way. Workers are moving fill to support the roadways entering this project as this is being written. This land was once agricultural and as such it sits a foot or more down from the roadways, this is the result.
Seagulls, egrets, herons are currently flocking to the site off the turnpike because of the newly created lake. Congratulations to all those who were involved in this latest fiasco.
