Homestead Main Street presents “Homestead Al Gusto Spring Fest.” This event was designed to bring the public out to enjoy a new phenomenon exploding across South Florida and across the nation: The Food Truck Invasion. Due to the success of the previous “Homestead Al Gusto”, which where held in November and February we are continuing this tradition by bringing the Gourmet Food Trucks again to downtown Krome Avenue on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Along with the amazing variety and professional culinary talent that comes with the Food Truck Invasion, we will also be highlighting Schnebly Craft Beer at our Chef’s Challenge. Each truck will be asked to prepare a dish in their style either pairing the dish with the beer coming from the newest craft brewery in South Florida, or using it as an ingredient. This will be a very interesting Chef’s Challenge.
Gourmet chef Adri Garcia, along with two other guest chefs, will be the judges of the Chef’s Challenge. Adri Garcia is Executive Chef and Managing Partner of Green Rocks Foods LLC. She graduated with honors from Le Cordon Bleu. She cooks a daily healthy school lunch for private schools and enjoys working with many community leaders to change the way we teach and feed our children. “We have so many wonderful ingredients here in Florida that it's a shame more people don't use the abundance of our bounty” expresses Chef Adri. She is member of the advisory board of Slow Food Miami. Chef Adri has been inducted in Les Dames d' Escoffier.
In addition to the Food Trucks Chef Challenge, there will be a Schnebly Tasting Tent, many unique vendors, and a Children’s Corner, under the auspices of Atala Montessori School for Creative Learning where children will be putting together “veggie” creations. We are setting up a stage on Krome Avenue where Main Highway will be performing. Come down and enjoy a fabulous evening of great food, music and family fun.
