Rumors have been flying that one of the Native American Tribes has been interested in the Mutineer Restaurant property, the adjoining parcels and the nearby trailer park on Palm Drive and U.S. 1 in Florida City. The premise is that a large mega Casino-Hotel-Resort operation is to be built at this prime location.
In 2010 then candidate for Governor Darrin McGillis promised legislation that would make a casino in Florida City happen.

As Governor, Darrin will push through legislation that brings Las Vegas to Florida City.
