Before you curse Bacardi for focusing more on marketing and advertising than on their actual product, thank them profusely for their generous donation (50 grand) to bring fireworks back to the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.
After a 6-year hiatus, fireworks are back in Coral Gables this July 4! Hip hip hooray!
The event, by far the best Fourth of July fireworks display in South Florida before it was shut down in 2006 (in my humble opinon), is made possible by an ordinance passed last year by Coral Gables commissioners that allows local companies to sponsor city events.
The good folks at Del Monte Fresh Produce, the Biltmore Hotel, the University of Miami, The Collection, the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Greenberg Traurig LLC and the Miami Herald are all chipping in as well.
The event (which takes place on July 4, of course), starts at 5:00 pm with the fireworks display set to commence at 9:00 pm. The Greater Miami Symphonic Band is scheduled to perform at 7:00 pm.
Admission is free. Food, drinks and cocktails (I assume Bacardi products will be served and prominently displayed) are not.
According to the Miami Herald, this event attracted anywhere between 20,000 to 35,000 people in the past, so plan to get there early if you want a “good seat”.
Free parking will be available at the municipal garage at 385 Andalusia Ave. A free shuttle service, which will make additional stops at the Coral Gables Youth Center and the Ponce Garage in front of the Bank United Center at the University of Miami, will take visitors to the event.

Here is what's happening elsewhere.
